As a long-time believer in the contribution of the business community – especially small business – to a robust economy and a rich social environment, I'm excited to take the reigns of the SBN and drive its good government for small business agenda. It's an especially challenging time as we maneuver the complexity of San Francisco's rapid growth, the housing crisis and increased regulation.
It's my pleasure to welcome you to SBN's recently launched and, we believe, engaging website. Along with the enriched site, we're beginning a new social-media member and community outreach designed to grow organizational and individual memberships as well as increase the power of our advocacy. This year we'll be establishing SBN delegate liaisons for each supervisor and the Mayor's office to better articulate the challenges and requirements affecting small business success.
We marked our 30th anniversary with a jubilant awards ceremony last May at Marine's Memorial. As always, we recognized laudable small businesses performance, honored advocates, networked and just had a grand time. And, yes, we introduced the all new “Kick Ass Business” award. We also recently hosted our first of many upcoming quarterly SBN Connect events, an opportunity for our members’ board of directors to mix and mingle with other movers and shakers in the business community. We hope you'll join us at the many events we're planning moving forward.
Most importantly, remember the SBN is about you – you're our partner. Let's make small business flourish together.
Please let me know your growth challenges and we love to hear small business success stories too!
